Possible Causes

DTC B1363 - IGNITION START CIRCUIT FAULT - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 23 DTC B1363 - IGNITION START CIRCUIT FAULT
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SELF-TESTS
  • Retrieve the recorded DTCs from the instrument cluster continuous and on-demand self-tests.
  • Is DTC B1363 retrieved? 
Yes CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-tests. If DTC B1363 is retrieved again, go to next step.
No The system is operating normally at this time. The concern may have been caused by the ignition switch left too long in the start position.
2 MONITOR SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) IGNITION SWITCH POSITION PIDs
  • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool:
    • Monitor SJB PIDs
  • Key OFF.
  • Select and monitor the ignition switch SJB PIDs while moving the ignition switch from run to start.
  • Do the PID values match the ignition switch position? 
Yes Go to next step.
No See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES to diagnose the ignition switch inputs to the SJB.
3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • damaged pins
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Install a new instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
