Possible Causes

HEADLAMP ON WARNING CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 2 HEADLAMP ON WARNING CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR
  • Key in ON position.
  • With the driver door opened, observe the door ajar warning indicator.
  • Does the door ajar warning indicator operate correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No REFER to SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER , to continue diagnosis of the door ajar indicator.
2 VERIFY THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATION OPERATES CORRECTLY
  • Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMPS or PARKING LAMPS ON position.
  • Does the instrument cluster panel illumination operate correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PANEL ILLUMINATION , to continue diagnosis of the instrument cluster illumination.
3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • damaged pins
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Install a new instrument cluster. see INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
