Thermostat Removal / Installation - 3.0L

- Partially drain the engine coolant. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET TUBE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
- Remove the throttle body cover.
- Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat outlet housing. Remove the alternator wiring pin-type retainer.
- Remove the bolts, thermostat housing and thermostat.

CAUTION:- Use care when scraping thermostat housing-to-gasket mating surfaces. Gouges in aluminum could form leak paths.
- Discard the gasket and clean the sealing surfaces.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill radiator with specified amount and type of engine coolant and bleed the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L .
