Muffler And Tailpipe Removal / Installation - 3.0L

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
- Remove the nuts and bolts.NOTE:
- The exhaust hanger insulators can be reused if they show no signs of damage.
- Remove the exhaust hanger insulators and discard them if they are damaged.
- Remove the tailpipe from the exhaust converter frame bracket.
- Position the muffler and tailpipe assembly.CAUTION:
- To prevent damage to the exhaust insulators do not use oil or grease based lubricants.
NOTE:- A soap and water solution will ease installation of the exhaust hanger insulators.
- Install the exhaust hanger insulators.
- Install the tailpipe into the exhaust hanger insulator.
- Position the muffler to the catalytic converter and install the nuts and bolts.
Tightening torque
40 Nm {4.1 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}
- Lower the vehicle.
