Exhaust Manifold Removal / Installation - 2.3L

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Remove the exhaust flange nuts.
- Remove the drive belt. See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 2.3L .
- Drain the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 2.3L .
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose and the engine reservoir hose.
- Remove the A/C compressor. See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 2.3L .
- Disconnect the heater water hose.
- Remove the oil indicator and the upper bolt for the tube assembly.
- Remove the lower bolt and remove the oil indicator tube assembly.
- Remove the bolts and the front radiator tube.
- Remove the pushpins and position the right inner fender splash shield out of the way.
- Disconnect the alternator electrical connectors.
- Remove the lower front end accessory drive (FEAD) mounting bolts.
- Remove the upper mounting bolt and the FEAD assembly.
- Remove the two nuts and position the coolant tube out of the way.

NOTE:- Engine removed for clarity.
- Remove the nuts and the exhaust manifold.
- Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
