Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.

    Tightening Torque 

    26 Nm {2.7 kgf-m, 19 ft-lbf} 

  3. Remove the bolts, the oil pan and the gasket.

    • Discard the gasket.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove traces of sealant.
  4. Clean and inspect all mating surfaces.
  5. Position the oil pan, casket and install the bolts.

    • Tighten the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown.

    Tightening Torque 

    9 Nm {0.9 kgf-m, 80 in-lbf} 

  6. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
