Possible Causes

DTC B1217 AND B1218 PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 3		DTC B1217 - HORN RELAY COIL CIRCUIT FAILURE AND DTC B1218 - HORN RELAY COIL CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY (VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY [RKE])
STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK THE POWER LOCKS WITH THE RKE TRANSMITTER Operate the power door locks with the RKE transmitter. Do the door locks operate correctly?	Yes	Go to next step.
1		No	See DOOR LOCK DIAGNOSIS to continue diagnosis of the power locks.
2	CHECK THE HORN OPERATION Operate the horn. Does the horn operate correctly?	Yes	Go to next step.
2		No	See PINPOINT TEST 1: HORN IS INOPERATIVE .
3	OPERATE THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WITH THE RKE TRANSMITTER Clear the DTCs. Operate the RKE transmitter. Are the DTCs B1217 and B1218 retrieved again?	Yes	Go to next step.
3		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. Repeat the self-test.
4	CHECK THE SJB OPERATION Disconnect all the SJB connectors. Check for: - corrosion - pushed out pins Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present?	Yes	Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test.
4		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test.
