Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the brake master cylinder. See BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER  .
  2. Compress the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster check valve.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  4. Disconnect the stoplamp switch electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal and bracket.
    • Remove the push rod cotter pin cover.
    • Remove the push rod cotter pin.
    • Remove the stoplight switch and the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal pin.
    • Remove the brake booster push rod bushing.
  6. Remove the bulkhead sound insulator.
  7. Remove the 4 brake booster nuts and the brake booster.
    • To install, tighten to 23 N-m (2.3 kgf-m, 17 ft_lbf).
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
