  • Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMPS ON position.
  • Place the multifunction switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
  • Does the high beam indicator illuminate?
Yes Go to step 4.
No Go to next step.
2 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
  • Carry out the multifunction switch component test. See appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  • Is the multifunction switch OK?
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new multifunction switch. See STEERING COLUMN MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK CIRCUIT (GY/O) FOR AN OPEN
  • Connect: Multifunction switch.
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280b.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMPS ON position.
  • Place the multifunction switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
  • Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280b pin 30, circuit (GY/O), harness side and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes Go to step 5.
No Repair circuit (GY/O) for an open. Test the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT (LG/B) FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280a.
  • Disconnect: LH headlamp 0918-101.
  • Measure the resistance between the SJB J-2280a pin 25, circuit (LG/B), harness side and the LH headlamp 0918-101 pin 1, circuit (LG/B), harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to next step.
No Verify SJB fuse 14 (15A) is OK. If OK, repair circuit (LG/B) for an open. Test the system for normal operation.
5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
