Possible Causes

HORN ALWAYS ON PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 2 HORN IS ALWAYS ON
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK CIRCUIT (Y/LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280a.
  • Does the horn continue to sound? 
Yes Repair circuit (Y/LG) for a short to voltage. Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to next step.
2 CHECK THE SJB FOR INTERNAL FAULTS
  • Key OFF.
  • Connect: SJB J-2280a.
  • Disconnect: J-2280d.
  • Does the horn continue to sound?
Yes Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to next step.
3 CHECK CIRCUIT (DL) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Connect: SJB J-2280d.
  • Disconnect: Clockspring 0922-202.
  • Does the horn continue to sound? 
Yes Repair circuit (DL) for a short to ground. Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to next step.
4 CHECK THE CLOCKSPRING FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Remove the driver air bag. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE .
  • Connect: Clockspring 0922-202
  • Disconnect: upper clockspring connector.
  • Measure the resistance between the clockspring 0922-202 pin 5, component side and the upper clockspring pin 5, component side.
  • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
Yes Install a new steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL . Test the system for normal operation.
No Install a new clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING . Test the system for normal operation.
