DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 17 DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR IS INOPERATIVE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMPS FOR CORRECT OPERATION
  • Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
  • Do the interior lamps operate correctly?
Yes Go to next step.
No See INTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis on the interior lamps.
2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCHES FOR INPUT
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: Instrument cluster 0922-102.
  • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 2, circuit (LG/B), harness side and ground while opening and closing the driver door.
  • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 3, circuit (Y/LG), harness side and ground while opening and closing the passenger door.
  • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms when the doors are closed, and less than 5 ohms when the doors are open?
Yes Go to step 6.
No If the driver circuit is suspected, go to next step. If the passenger circuit is suspected, go to step 5.
3 CHECK THE SJB (DRIVER SIDE) FOR OPERATION
  • Disconnect: Instrument cluster 0922-102
  • Connect a fused (5A) jumper between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 2, circuit (LG/B), harness side and ground.
  • Key ON.
  • Does the door ajar warning indicator illuminate?
Yes Go to step 7.
No Go to next step.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT (LG/B) FOR AN OPEN
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280c.
  • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 2, circuit (LG/B), harness side and the SJB J-2280c pin 2, circuit (LG/B), harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to step 8.
No Repair circuit (LG/B) for an open. Test the system for normal operation.
5 CHECK THE SJB (PASSENGER SIDE) FOR OPERATION
  • Disconnect: Instrument cluster 0922-102.
  • Connect a fused (5A) jumper between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 3, circuit (Y/LG), harness side and ground. Key ON.
  • Does the door ajar warning indicator illuminate?
Yes Go to step 7.
No Go to next step.
6 CHECK CIRCUIT (Y/LG) FOR AN OPEN
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280d.
  • Measure the resistance between the instrument duster 0922-102 pin 3, circuit (Y/LG), harness side and the SJB J-2280d pin 4, circuit (Y/LG) harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair circuit (Y/LG) for an open. Test the system for normal operation.
7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • Corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes Install a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
8 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
  • Check for:
    • Corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes Install a new instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
