Shock Absorber Rear Removal/Installation
CAUTION:
- The low pressure gas shock absorbers are charged with nitrogen gas to 930 kPa {9.48 kgf/cm2 , 135 psi}. Do not attempt to open, puncture or apply heat to the shock absorber.
- Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on safety stands.
- Remove the rear wheels; See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
- Remove the shock absorber lower attaching nut (1) and bolt (2).
- Swing the lower end free of the mounting bracket on the axle housing.
- Remove the attaching nut (3) from the upper mounting bolt. Remove the shock absorber (4).
- Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque for upper and lower shock absorber nuts
53-72 N.m {5.4-7.3 kgf.m, 39-53 ft.lbf}.
