Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Remove appropriate front seat. See FRONT SEAT  . Remove inboard seat cushion side shield. Release pin-type retainers and separate seat belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connectors from seat retaining clips. Using Seat Belt Bit (510-010), remove seat belt pretensioner mounting bolt. See Fig 1 . Remove pretensioner.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system function. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
