Water Bypass Hose Removal/Installation - 2.3L

  1. Drain the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 2.3L  .
  2. Remove the transmission. See MANUAL TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (automatic).

  3. Disconnect the hose from the coolant outlet pipe.

    CAUTION:
    • Remove the electrical connector locators from the splash shield prior to removal.
  4. Remove the RH inner fender splash shield.
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Remove the pushpin.
    3. Remove the bolts.
    4. Remove the splash shield.

  5. Remove the coolant bypass hose from the routing clip.

  6. Disconnect the hose from the coolant bypass tube.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
