Valve Cover - (RH) Removal/Installation - 3.0L: Notes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.

    CAUTION:
    • Do not pull on the spark plug wire as it may separate from the spark plug wire connector inside the spark plug boot.
  3. Disconnect the spark plug wires by twisting while pulling upward.

  4. Disconnect the heater hose support from the stud.

  5. Disconnect the spark plug wire holders.

  6. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. See FUEL CHARGING WIRING HARNESS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
  7. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Position the engine control sensor wiring aside.

  8. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

  9. Disconnect the engine control wire harness from the valve cover studs.

  10. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.

    NOTE:
    • To prevent stretching the valve cover gasket, loosen silicone gasket and sealant from the cylinder head by sliding a flat knife between the valve cover gasket and cylinder head.
  11. Remove the eight bolts and remove the valve cover.

  12. Remove the valve cover gasket, if required.

  13. Install in the reverse order of removal.
