Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Partially peel back caps on appropriate assist handle and remove screws and assist handle. Remove front and scuff plates. Remove the power sliding door rear switch, if equipped. Turn seaming welt over. Remove fastener, and using appropriate tool, disengage clips and remove B-pillar lower trim.
  3. Remove nut, disconnect electrical connector and remove side crash sensor. See Fig 1 . Remove bolt and side crash sensor bracket.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten nut and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
