Removal (Upper)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda B3000 and 2001 Mazda B3000. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. See DRAINING . Remove air cleaner duct hose. Mark and disconnect electrical connectors. Mark and disconnect vacuum hoses. Disconnect PCV hose. Remove throttle linkage shield and disconnect accelerator cable from throttle body. Remove accelerator cable bracket, and position aside. Remove throttle body, if required.
  2. Disconnect spark plug wires from ignition coil, and position aside. Remove ignition coil assembly. Remove EGR tube and EGR bolts. Disconnect EGR solenoid vacuum tube. Remove bolt and remove EGR transducer. Remove 6 upper intake manifold assembly bolts and studs. Remove upper intake manifold assembly and gasket.
