RETRIEVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCs)
- Retrieve and document continuous DTCs.
- Clear continuous DTCs.
- Perform SJB wiper/washer self test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?

If DTC B1431 or B1432, Go to step 19. If DTC B1434 or B1436, Go to step 11. If DTC B1446, Go to step 19. If DTC B1466 or B1476, Go to step 8. If DTC B1473, Go to step 18. All others, Go to step 2. |

CHECK MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH INPUT TO SJB
- Key OFF.
- Connect WDS or equivalent tester.
- Key ON.
- Monitor the SJB PID wiper run while turning the multifunction switch through all the positions.
- Do the SJB PID values agree with the multifunction switch positions?

Go to step 8 |
| No |
Go to step 3. |

CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH

Yes |
Go to step 4. |
| No |
Replace the multifunction switch. See MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK CIRCUIT DG FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Place the multifunction switch in the OFF position.
- Disconnect SJB J-2280d.
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 10 circuit DG, harness side and multifunction switch connector 0918-105 pin 2 circuit DG, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 10 circuit DG, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 5. |
| No |
Repair DG wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK R WIRE FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 8 circuit R, harness side and multifunction switch connector 0918-105 pin 3 circuit R.
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 8 circuit R, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 6. |
| No |
Repair R wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK LB/O WIRE FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 12 circuit LB/O, harness side and multifunction switch connector 0918-105 pin 4 circuit LB/O, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 12 circuit LB/O, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 7. |
| No |
Repair (LB/O) wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK Y/R WIRE FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 6 circuit Y/R, harness side and multifunction switch connector 0918-105 pin 1 circuit Y/R, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280d pin 6 circuit Y/R, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 8. |
| No |
Repair Y/R wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK THE WIPER HIGH-SPEED OPERATION
- Connect any connectors previously disconnected.
- Key ON.
- Position the multifunction switch to the wiper high position.
- Do the high speed wipers operate correctly?

Yes |
Go to step 17. |
| No |
Go to step 9. |

CHECK THE SJB WIPER HIGH SPEED PID
- Monitor the SJB PID wiper high speed while turning the multifunction switch to the wiper high position.
- Does the SJB PID indicate short to voltage?

Yes |
Disconnect the wiper high/low relay. Go to step 13. |
| No |
Go to step 10. |

CHECK THE SJB OUTPUT
- Select SJB active commands for wiper high/low relay and wiper park/run relay.
- Trigger wiper park/on relay and wiper high ON.
- Do the high speed wipers operate?

Yes |
Go to step 22. |
| No |
Go to step 11. |

CHECK WIPER HIGH/LOW RELAY
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect wiper high/low relay from engine compartment fuse box. Check the wiper high/low relay. See WIPER/WASHER RELAY COMPONENT TEST
.
- Is the wiper high/low relay OK?

Yes |
Go to step 12. |
| No |
Install a new wiper high/low relay. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| 12 |
CHECK POWER TO WIPER HIGH/LOW RELAY
- Key in ON.
- Measure the voltage between wiper high/low relay pin 1 circuit R, harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes |
Go to step 13. |
| No |
Repair R wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK CIRCUIT GY/LB FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage between wiper high/low relay pin 2 circuit GY/LB, harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage indicated?

Yes |
Go to step 14. |
| No |
Go to step 15. |

ISOLATE CIRCUIT GY/LB FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect the SJB connector J-2280a.
- Key ON.
- Measure the voltage between wiper high/low relay pin 2, circuit GY/LB harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage indicated?

Yes |
Repair GY/LB wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| No |
Go to step 22. |
| 15 |
CHECK CIRCUIT GY/LB FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Key OFF.
- Measure the resistance between SJB J-2280a pin 13 circuit GY/LB, harness side and wiper high/low relay pin 2 circuit GY/LB, harness side.
- Measure the resistance between SJB J-2280a pin 13 circuit GY/LB, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 16. |
| No |
Repair GY/LB wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK CIRCUIT DL/O FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect wiper motor connector 0919-101.
- Measure the resistance between wiper high/low relay pin 5 circuit DL/O, harness side and wiper motor connector 0919-101 pin 1, circuit DL/O.
- Measure the resistance between wiper high/low relay pin 5 circuit DL/O, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 21. |
| No |
Repair DL/O wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK WIPER HIGH/LOW RELAY
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect wiper high/low relay from engine compartment fuse box.
- Check the wiper high/low relay. See WIPER/WASHER RELAY COMPONENT TEST
.
- Is the wiper high/low relay OK?

Yes |
Go to step 18. |
| No |
Install a new wiper high/low relay. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| 18 |
CHECK CIRCUIT W FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Key OFF.
- Measure the resistance between wiper high/low relay pin 4 circuit W, harness side and wiper motor connector 0919-101 pin 2, circuit W.
- Measure the resistance between wiper high/low relay pin 4 circuit W, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 19. |
| No |
Repair DL/O wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| 19 |
CHECK CIRCUIT LB FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect wiper park/run relay.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector 0919-101, if connected.
- Measure the resistance between wiper park/run relay pin 4 circuit LB, harness side and wiper motor connector 0919-101 pin 5 circuit LB.
- Measure the resistance between wiper park/run relay pin 4 circuit LB, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between connectors, and greater than 10K ohms to ground?

Yes |
Go to step 20. |
| No |
Repair (LB) wire. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| 20 |
CHECK CIRCUIT LB FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN WIPER MOTOR AND SJB
- Disconnect SJB connector J-2280a.
- Measure the resistance between SJB connector J-2280a pin 4 circuit R, harness side and wiper motor connector 0919-101 pin 5 circuit LB.
- Connect a jumper wire between wiper high/low relay pin 3, circuit B/P harness side and wiper high/low relay pin 4, circuit W harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes |
Go to step 21 |
| No |
Repair LB wire between wiper motor and SJB. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK WIPER MOTOR

Yes |
Go to step 22. |
| No |
Replace the wiper motor. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| 22 |
CHECK SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Reconnect all the SJB connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes |
Replace the SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| No |
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
