CHECK THE STOPLAMP OPERATION
- Press and release the brake pedal while observing the rear lamps.
- Do the stoplamps operate correctly?

Yes |
Go to step 2. |

CHECK CIRCUIT V/O FOR VOLTAGE
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect: Digital Transmission Range (TR) Sensor (Automatic Transmission) 0140-05.
- Disconnect: Reversing Lamp Switch (Manual Transmission) 0918-603.
- Key ON.
- Measure the voltage between the digital TR sensor 0140-05 pin 9, circuit V/O (A/T), harness side and ground; or between the reversing lamp switch 0918-603 pin 2, circuit V/O, harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes |
Go to step 4. |
| No |
Go to step 3. |

CHECK THE SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) FOR AN OPEN
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB J-2280b.
- Measure the resistance between the SJB J-2280b pin 7, circuit V/O, component side and the SJB J-2280b pin 17, circuit G/Y, component side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes |
Repair circuit V/O. Test the system for normal operation. |

Go to step 5. |

CHECK CIRCUIT B/P FOR AN OPEN
- Key OFF.
- Measure the resistance between the digital TR sensor 0140-05 pin 11, circuit B/P, harness side and ground; or between the reversing lamp switch 0918-603 pin 1, circuit B/P, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes |
Install a new digital TR sensor or reversing lamp switch. See DIGITAL TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

| No |
Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. |

CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect all SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes |
Install a new SJB. Test the system for normal operation. |
| No |
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. |
