Module Does Not Respond To The Diagnostic Tool - Four-Wheel Drive (4WD)

PINPOINT TEST 4 - MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE (4WD)

PINPOINT TEST 4 MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE (4X4)
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK 4X4 CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR 0318-02 FOR DAMAGE
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect 4X4 control module connectors 0318-02.
  • Inspect 4X4 control module 0318-02.
  • Is the 4X4 control module 0318-02 OK? 
Yes Go to step 2.
No Repair the 4X4 control module 0318-02 as necessary. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
2 CHECK CIRCUIT LB/W FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between 4X4 control module connector 0318-02 pin 4, circuit LB/W, harness side and the DLC connector D-01 pin 7, circuit LB/W, harness side.
  • Is the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Repair the circuit. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
3 CHECK FOR CORRECT 4X4 CONTROL MODULE OPERATION
  • Disconnect all 4X4 control module connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all 4X4 control module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Replace the 4X4 control module.
See TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
