Instrument Cluster Pinpoint Test 9: Check Fuel Cap Indicator Is Never On

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PINPOINT TEST 9 - CHECK FUEL CAP INDICATOR NEVER ON

PINPOINT TEST 9		CHECK FUEL CAP INDICATOR IS NEVER ON
STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK THE CHECK FUEL CAP INDICATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT Key OFF. Disconnect: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 0140-175. Key ON. Connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the PCM 0140-175 pin 82, circuit B/W, and ground. Does the check fuel cap indicator illuminate?	Yes	Go to step 4.
1		No	Go to step 2.
2	CHECK CIRCUIT B/W FOR AN OPEN Key OFF. Disconnect: Instrument Cluster 0922-102. Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 19, circuit B/W, harness side and the PCM 0140-175 pin 82, circuit B/W, harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?	Yes	Go to step 3.
2		No	Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
3	CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors. Check for: corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
3		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
4	CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION Disconnect all PCM connectors. Check for: corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present?	Yes	Replace the PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
4		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
