| 1 | CHECK THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR LAMP OPERATION

Yes | System is operating correctly at this time. |
| No | If the air bag warning indicator is never on, Go to step 2. If the air bag warning indicator is always on, Go to step 4. |

| 2 | CHECK CIRCUIT B/Y
|
Yes | Go to step 6. |
| No | Go to step 3. | ||
| 3 | CHECK CIRCUIT B/Y FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
|
Yes | Go to step 7. |
| No | Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. | ||
| 4 | ISOLATE THE AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC MODULE
|
Yes | Repair the supplemental restraint system. See AIR BAG SYSTEM ON - BOARD DIAGNOSIS |
| No | Go to step 5. | ||
| 5 | CHECK CIRCUIT B/Y FOR AN OPEN
|
Yes | Go to step 7. |
| No | Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. | ||
| 6 | CHECK FOR CORRECT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE OPERATION
|
Yes | Install a new restraint control module. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation. |
| No | The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. |

| 7 | CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION

Yes | Install a new instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . |
| No | The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the instrument cluster self-test. |
