Park, Rear Or License Lamps On Continuously

PINPOINT TEST 3 - PARK, REAR OR LICENSE LAMPS ON CONTINUOUSLY

PINPOINT TEST 3 PARK, REAR OR LICENSE LAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 USE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE SJB SELF-TEST
  • Key OFF.
  • Using the recorded results from the SJB self-test:
  • Were any DTCs recorded? 
Yes If DTC C1962, Go to step 2. All others, Go to the Smart Junction Box (SJB) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index for correct diagnosis.
No Go to step 4.
2 CHECK THE HEADLAMP SWITCH
  • Disconnect: Main Light Switch 0918-103.
  • Do the exterior lamps continue to illuminate? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Install a new headlamp switch. See MAIN LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK CIRCUIT W/B FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280d.
  • Measure the resistance between the main light switch 0918-103 pin 3, circuit W/B, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
Yes Go to step 4.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT BR/W FOR SHORT TO POWER
  • Disconnect: SJB fuse 2 (10A).
  • Do the exterior lamps continue to illuminate?
  • Were any DTCs recorded? 
Yes Go to step 5.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
5 CHECK CIRCUIT B/P FOR SHORT TO POWER
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280c.
  • Do the rear parking lamps continue to illuminate? 
Yes Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to step 6.
6 CHECK CIRCUIT BR FOR SHORT TO POWER
  • Disconnect: SJB J-2280a.
  • Do the front parking lamps continue to illuminate? 
Yes Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to step 7.
7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Yes Install a new SJB. Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
