Illumination Inoperative - Climate Control

PINPOINT TEST 3 - ILLUMINATION INOPERATIVE - CLIMATE CONTROL

PINPOINT TEST 3 ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE - CLIMATE CONTROL
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK FOR POWER TO THE CLIMATE CONTROL
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect the Function Selector Switch 0740-103.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
  • Rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
  • Measure the voltage between the climate control 0740-103 pin 1, circuit LB/R, harness side and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
 Yes Go to step 2.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
2 CHECK FOR GROUND AT THE CLIMATE CONTROL
  • Measure the resistance between the climate control 0740-103 pin 2, circuit B, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
 Yes Replace the illumination bulbs. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATION BULBS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
