Removal & Installation (Tribute 2.0L)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Protege5, 2003 Mazda Protege, 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remove the bolts and the exhaust manifold heat shield. See Fig 1.
Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) harness connector. See Fig 2.

NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the HO2S with penetrating and lock lubricant to aid in removal.

Using the Special Tool (303-476), remove the HO2S. See Fig 3.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Apply a light coat of high temperature nickel anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S to aid in installation. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
