Removal & Installation (Protege, Protege5 & 626 2.0L)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect fuel line. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV, PROTEGE, PROTEGE5 & 626) . Disconnect fuel injector harness connectors. Remove injector harness from fuel rail. Remove fuel rail mounting bolts. Remove fuel rail, injectors and pressure regulator as an assembly.
  2. Remove insulators, fuel injectors, pulsation damper and pressure regulator from fuel rail. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW injector insulators. Ensure insulators are pressed in fully and not twisted or bent. Apply coat of engine oil to NEW "O" rings and install on fuel injectors, pulsation damper and pressure regulator. Ensure injector alignment tab is aligned to notch in fuel rail. Tighten fuel rail mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
