Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

- Verify Related Repair Information Availability - Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC-2. Turn ignition on, engine off. Monitor for FREEZE FRAME DATA and ensure data has been recorded. Check service bulletins for repair information related to this DTC. If repair information is not available, go to next step. If repair information is available, perform diagnosis and repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 7.
- Inspect PCM Connector Terminal - Disconnect PCM 104-pin harness connector. Check for poor connection due to damaged, pulled-out terminals, corrosion, etc. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 7. If connector terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Inspect Knock Sensor Circuits For Open Circuit - Disconnect KS 2-pin harness connector. Check for continuity of Yellow/Blue wire between KS harness connector terminal "A" and PCM 104-pin harness connector terminal No. 57. See Figure. Also check for continuity of Red wire between KS harness connector terminal "B" and PCM 104-pin harness connector terminal No. 59. If continuity is present in both wires, go to next step. If continuity is not present in either wire, repair open circuit in suspect wire. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repair, go to step 7.
- Inspect Knock Sensor Circuits For Short To Ground - Check for continuity between ground and KS 2-pin harness connector terminals. If continuity is not present at both terminals, go to next step. If continuity is present at either terminal, repair short circuit to ground in suspect wire. After repair, go to step 7.
- Check For Short Circuits - Check for continuity between KS harness connector terminals. If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short circuit between KS circuits. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repair, go to step 7.
- Check Knock Sensor Resistance - not as specified, replace KS. After repair, go to next step.
- Verify Trouble Shooting Of DTC P0325 Completed -
Reconnect all connections. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Operate vehicle under following conditions:
- Engine coolant temperature more than 140°F (60°C).
- Engine load more than 50 percent.
- Engine RPM 1500-5000.
Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0325 is present, replace PCM. For PCM removal and installation, see POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. After repair, go to next step. If same DTC P0325 is not present, go to next step.
- Verify After Repair Procedure - Using scan tool, perform After Repair Procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no other DTCs are present, testing is complete. If any other DTC is present, follow appropriate DTC diagnostic procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
