Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC-2. Turn ignition on, engine off. Monitor for FREEZE FRAME DATA and ensure data has been recorded. Check service bulletins for repair information related to this DTC. If repair information is not available, go to next step. If repair information is available, perform diagnosis and repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  8.
  2. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector. Check AC voltage between CKP sensor connector terminals while cranking engine. If voltage is not present, go to next step. If voltage is present, go to step  4.
  3. Turn ignition switch off. Check resistance between CKP sensor 3-pin connector terminals "A" and "B". If resistance is about 550 ohms, check CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector for loose or damaged terminals, poor contact or corrosion. Repair as necessary and go to step  8. If resistance is not about 550 ohms, replace CKP sensor and go to step  8.
  4. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect PCM 104-pin harness connector. Check for damaged or corroded terminals. If no problem is found, go to next step. If any problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  8.
  5. Disconnect CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector. Check continuity of Yellow wire between CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector terminal "A" and PCM 104-pin harness connector terminal No. 21. Check continuity of Orange/Black wire between CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector terminal "B" and PCM 104-pin harness connector terminal No. 22. See Fig 1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open circuit and go to step  8.

  6. Check continuity between ground and CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector terminals "A" (Yellow wire) and "B" (Orange/Black wire). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in suspect circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  8.
  7. Check continuity between CKP sensor 3-pin harness connector terminals "A" and "B". If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short between circuits. Go to next step.
  8. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition switch on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine. Ensure MAF PID is more that 2.2 gram/sec. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0335 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. If DTC P0335 is not present, go to next step.
  9. Cycle ignition switch from off to on. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no other DTCs are present, testing is complete. If any other DTC is present, go to applicable test and repair.
