DTC P0101: Mass Airflow Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem: Condition
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda Protege5 and 2002 Mazda Protege. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
PCM compares actual Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor input signal with expected input signal from MAF sensor which PCM calculates by engine speed and throttle position. When MAF sensor input is more or less than expected MAF sensor input signal for 5 seconds, PCM determines that detected mass air flow amount is to high or to low and DTC P0101 is set. Possible causes are:
- Electrical corrosion in MAF signal or return circuit.
- MAF sensor malfunction.
- Throttle Position (TP) sensor malfunction.
- Voltage drops in ground or MAF signal circuit.
