Removal & Installation (Protege & Protege5)

WARNING: When the engine is hot, it can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
  3. Remove the ECT sensor using the Special Service Tool (49-D015-004). See Fig 1.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Replace gasket as well as fill and bleed cooling system to complete installation. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.
