Section 2 (Engine Mechanical - 2.0L): Camshafts: Removal

Remove the camshaft timing sprockets. Refer to TIMING DRIVE COMPONENTS - TIMING SPROCKETS .
Verify the valve clearance. Refer to VALVE - VALVE CLEARANCE, ADJUST .

CAUTION: Cylinder head camshaft journal caps are numbered on the outside flats to make sure that they are assembled in their original positions. Failure to do so may result in engine damage.

Remove the camshafts.
1. Loosen the camshaft journal cap bolts in several two-turn passes in the sequence shown.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the caps.
Inspect the camshafts for wear.
- Discard the oil seals.
