Brake Pedal Height & Stoplight Switch

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mazda RX-8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Once the brake switch clearance has automatically been adjusted, it cannot be adjusted again. Therefore, replace the switch with a new one when replacing the power brake unit or the pedal, or performing any procedure that changes the pedal stroke.

Measure the distance from the center of the upper surface of the pedal pad to the floor covering. See Fig 1. Verify that it is as specified. See BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS  table. If not within the specification, replace the brake pedal.
