Disassembly & Reassembly

  1. Remove master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Clean outside of master cylinder. Remove brake pressure switch (if equipped) and reservoir.
  2. Depress primary piston and remove snap ring, then remove primary piston assembly. Remove brake pressure control valve. Remove secondary piston assembly stop bolt. Use compressed air through front brake outlet port to remove secondary piston assembly. See Fig 1 .
  3. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean master cylinder bore. Inspect for damage. If bore is damaged, master cylinder must be replaced.
  4. Use appropriate brake fluid to lubricate NEW piston assembly seals. To assemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Bleed master cylinder prior to installation. Bleed brake system after installation. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  for both bleeding procedures.
