Timing Belt Auto TENSIONER Installation Note

  1. Measure the tensioner rod projection length. Replace the auto tensioner if necessary.

    Projection (Free Length)

    Type A: 14.3-15.1 mm {0.563-0.594 in} 

  2. Type B: 12.0-13.0 mm {0.473-0.511 in}

    NOTE:
    • There are two types of tensioners and they are interchangeable.

  3. Inspect the auto tensioner for oil leakage. Replace the auto tensioner as if necessary.
    CAUTION:
    • Applying pressure of more than 9.8 kN {1,000 kgf, 2,200 lbf} can damage the auto tensioner.
  4. Slowly press in the tensioner rod using a press.

  5. Insert a pin into the hole in the body as shown, to hold the tensioner rod.
