Idle Speed Inspection

  1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
  2. Shift the transaxle into Neutral (MTX) or P position (ATX).
  3. Turn off all loads.
    • Blower Motor
    • Power Steering
    • Electrical Loads. (e.g, Headlight, Rear Window Defroster)
  4. Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See BATTERY INSPECTION .)
  5. Connect the SSTs  (WDS or equivalent) to data link connector.
  6. Access RPM PID.
  7. Wait until the electrical fans stop.
  8. Verify that the idle speed is within specifications.
    • If not within specifications, adjust the idle speed as follows.

    Specification 

    550-750 (650 +/- 100) RPM 

CAUTION:
  • The air adjusting screw (AAS) must not be adjusted when the headlight HIGH system is malfunctioning. Any improper adjustment may affect engine performance.
NOTE:
  • In order to activate the self-test function at idle after completion of the following procedure, turn off the ignition switch at once, then operate the self-test function.
