Idle Speed Inspection

- Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
- Shift the transaxle into Neutral (MTX) or P position (ATX).
- Turn off all loads.
- Blower Motor
- Power Steering
- Electrical Loads. (e.g, Headlight, Rear Window Defroster)
- Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See BATTERY INSPECTION .)
- Connect the SSTs (WDS or equivalent) to data link connector.
- Access RPM PID.
- Wait until the electrical fans stop.
- Verify that the idle speed is within specifications.
- If not within specifications, adjust the idle speed as follows.
Specification
550-750 (650 +/- 100) RPM
CAUTION:
- The air adjusting screw (AAS) must not be adjusted when the headlight HIGH system is malfunctioning. Any improper adjustment may affect engine performance.
NOTE:
- In order to activate the self-test function at idle after completion of the following procedure, turn off the ignition switch at once, then operate the self-test function.
