DTC 42: Operation Signal To Interlock Solenoid

Wait 2 seconds after selecting DTC 42. If LCD flashes on and off, interlock solenoid should turn on and off 3 times. If interlock solenoid turns on and off 3 times, interlock solenoid is okay. If interlock solenoid does not function as described, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage at instrument cluster connector No. 1, terminal 1G. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage is not present, check interlock solenoid and wiring harness from instrument cluster to interlock solenoid. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
