DTC 41: Shift Lock Solenoid ("P" Position Signal) On/Off Signal

  1. Shift gear selector lever to any position except "P". If LCD indicates ON, go to next step. If LCD indicates OFF, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage at instrument cluster connector No. 4, terminal 4B. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage is not present, check "P" range switch and wiring harness from ignition switch to shift lock solenoid to instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
  2. Shift gear selector lever to "P" position. If LCD indicates ON, measure voltage at instrument cluster connector No. 4, terminal 4B. See Figure . If no voltage is present, check "P" range switch and wiring harness from ignition switch to shift lock solenoid to instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system. If LCD indicates OFF, input signal to instrument cluster is okay.
