DTC 31: Key Reminder On/Off Signal

  1. Select DTC 31, remove and reinsert ignition key. If LCD indicates ON, go to next step. If LCD indicates OFF, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage at instrument cluster connector No. 2, terminal 2J. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage is not present, check key reminder switch and wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
  2. Remove ignition key from steering lock. If LCD indicates ON, measure voltage at instrument cluster connector No. 2, terminal 2J. See Figure . If no voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is present, check key reminder switch and wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system. If LCD indicates OFF, input signal to instrument cluster is okay.
