DTC 24: Water Temperature Signal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect water temperature sensor connector. Select DTC 24. If LCD indicates 252-255, go to next step. If LCD indicates other than 252-255, replace instrument cluster.
- Using a jumper wire, connect instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3E to ground. See Figure . If LCD indicates 000-003, go to next step. If LCD indicates other than 000-003, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect SST (fuel and thermometer checker) or 20-ohm resistor between instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3E and ground. See Figure . If LCD indicates 018-036, go to next step. If LCD indicates other than 018-036, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect SST (fuel and thermometer checker) or 60-ohm resistor between instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3E and ground. See Figure . If LCD indicates 048-085, go to next step. If LCD indicates other than 048-085, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect SST (fuel and thermometer checker) or 100-ohm resistor between instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3E and ground. See Figure . If LCD indicates 070-121, check temperature gauge sending unit. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE SENDING UNIT under COMPONENT TESTS. If LCD indicates other than 070-121, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
