DTC 08: TNS Relay On/Off Signal

  1. Turn headlight switch to TNS position. If LCD indication is ON, go to next step. If LCD indication is OFF, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 1, terminal 1E and ground. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is not present, check TNS relay, wiring harness and wiring harness connections from battery to TNS relay and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
  2. Turn headlight switch to OFF position. If LCD indication is ON, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 1, terminal 1E and ground. See Figure . If voltage is zero volts, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is present, check TNS relay, and wiring harness from battery to TNS relay and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system. If LCD indication is OFF, input signal to instrument cluster is okay.
