DTC 07: Rear Window Defroster Switch On/Off Signal

  1. With front climate control unit display indicating OFF, turn rear window defroster switch to ON position. If LCD indication is ON, go to next step. If LCD indication is OFF, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3R and ground. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage is not present, check climate control unit, wiring harness and wiring harness connections from instrument cluster to climate control unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
  2. With front climate control unit display indicating ON, turn rear window defroster switch to ON position. If LCD indication is ON, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3R and ground. See Fig 1 . If voltage is zero volts, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is present, check climate control unit, wiring harness and wiring harness connections from instrument cluster to climate control unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system. If LCD indication is OFF, input signal to instrument cluster is okay.
