Test No. 3: Speedometer Needle Fluctuates Or Is Incorrect

  1. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. After more than 30 seconds, reconnect negative battery cable. Cycle ignition switch to ON position, then LOCK position, 3 times. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Push trip reset button 3 times. Push trip reset button until DTC 12 is reached.
  2. If speedometer needle moves full scale and then rests at 60 MPH, replace vehicle speedometer sensor. If speedometer needle does not move full scale and then rest at 60 MPH, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
