Test No. 14: Oil Pressure Warning Light Stays On With Engine Running

  1. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Start engine. Check for continuity between ground and oil pressure switch terminal. If continuity exists, go to step  3 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  2. Stop engine. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity between ground and instrument cluster harness connector No. 3, terminal 3H. See Figure . If continuity exists, repair wiring between instrument cluster and oil pressure switch. If continuity does not exist, replace printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Remove oil pressure switch. Mechanically measure oil pressure. Ensure oil pressure is within specification. If oil pressure is okay, replace oil pressure switch. If oil pressure is not within specification, repair engine mechanical problem.
