Removal & Installation (Mazda6 2.3L & Miata)

CAUTION:
The variable valve timing actuator camshaft sprocket is integrated with the variable valve timing actuator and cannot be disassembled.
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove timing belt. See appropriate TIMING BELT article in ENGINES.
- Remove the variable valve timing actuator. See Fig 1.
- Loosen the variable valve timing actuator bolt.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
NOTE:
Set a wrench or equivalent tool at the hexagonal part of the camshaft to prevent rotation.
