Removal (Mazda6 3.0L)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Protege5, 2003 Mazda Protege, 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. For the right side, perform the following procedure:
    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Remove the plug hole plate.
    3. Remove the dynamic chamber. See INTAKE AIR SYSTEM  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
    4. Remove the ignition coil. See IGNITION COIL PACK  under IGNITION SYSTEMS.
    5. Remove the Oil Control Valve (OCV) connector.
    6. Remove the ventilation hose.
    7. Remove the cylinder head cover tightening bolt.
    8. Remove the OCV with cylinder head cover raised as shown in the illustration. See Fig 1.
  2. For the left side, perform the following procedure:
    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Remove the plug hole plate.
    3. Remove the ignition coil. See IGNITION COIL PACK  under IGNITION SYSTEMS.
    4. Remove the Oil Control Valve (OCV) harness connector.
    5. Remove the ventilation hose.
    6. Remove the OCV. See Fig 2.
