Installation (Mazda6 3.0L)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Protege5, 2003 Mazda Protege, 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Take care not to let the OCV bolt slip into the timing chain cover when removing the OCV bolt from engine front (right side only).
  1. Install the Oil Control Valve (OCV). See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Apply silicone sealant to the cylinder head cover mating faces as shown in illustration. See Fig 1.
  3. Install the cylinder head cover with a NEW gasket.
  4. Tighten the bolts in the order in the illustration. See Fig 2. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the ventilation hose.
  6. Install the OCV harness connector.
  7. Install the ignition coil. See IGNITION COIL PACK  under IGNITION SYSTEM.
  8. Install the plug hole plate.
