Removal & Installation (Tribute 2.0L)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Protege5, 2003 Mazda Protege, 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Disconnect the spark plug wires. See Fig 1.
Disconnect the ignition coil harness connector. See Fig 2.
Remove the bolts and remove the ignition coil. See Fig 3.

CAUTION: Correct installation of the ignition wires is critical to engine operation. If one spark plug wire is not correctly installed at either the spark plugs or the ignition coil, both spark plugs connected to the ignition coil may not fire under load.

To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
