Removal & Installation (Tribute 2.0L)

WARNING:
DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE:
Numbers in parenthesis refer to numbers in the illustration.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
- Using the special tool, disconnect the fuel line. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (B2300, B3000, B4000 & TRIBUTE) .
- Disconnect the accelerator cable and, if equipped, the cruise control actuator cable. See Fig 1.
- Disconnect the fuel pulse damper vacuum hose. See Fig 2.
- Disconnect the fuel injector harness connectors. See Fig 3.
- Remove the bolts and remove the fuel supply manifold. See Fig 4.
- Release the retaining clips (1). See Fig 5.
- Remove the fuel injectors (2). See Fig 5.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Inspect "O" rings and replace if necessary. See Fig 6. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
CAUTION:
Use "O" ring seals made of fuel-resistant material. Use of incorrect "O" ring seals may result in fuel leakage.
CAUTION:
Never use silicone grease. Silicone grease may clog fuel injectors.
NOTE:
Lubricate the "O" ring seals with clean SAE 5W-30 motor oil to aid installation.
NOTE:
Install the fuel injector retaining clips onto the fuel injectors before installing the injectors onto the supply manifold.
