Removal (Protege & Protege5)

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Remove rear seat cushion. Remove fuel pump access cover.
- Disconnect 4-pin harness connector.
- Disconnect both fuel lines. See DISCONNECT under FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (MAZDA6, MPV, PROTEGE & PROTEGE5).
- Remove fuel pump and sending unit assembly. See Fig 1.
- Remove fuel pump from assembly.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
