Removal & Installation (Mazda6 3.0L & MPV)

WARNING: When the engine is hot, it can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor harness connector. See Fig 1.
  4. Remove the ECT sensor.
  5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace gasket and refill engine coolant. See FILLING & BLEEDING (MAZDA6)  under COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING.
